Arbaeen procession in Marble Arch, London UK
By: waqar khan The 26th annual Arbaeen (Chelum) Procession of Imam Husain (AS) will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday 11th March 2007 (21st Safar 1428) at Marble Arch, Central London, commencing with Zuhrain Namaz-e-Jamat. Then there shall be Majalis (speeches) in English, Urdu, Arabic and Farsi (Persian), followed by a matami procession along Park Lane commencing at 2pm. This event has been organised by the Hussaini Islamic Trust UK. The Trust was formed in 1982 with the encouragement of Sayed Mahdi Al-Hakeem (Shaheed), son of Grand Ayatullah Sayed Mohsin Al-Hakeem. It founded the very first annual Muslim Jaloos (Procession) in Central London and the very first Arbaeen/Chelum Jaloos of Imam Hussain (A.S) in the western world (USA & Europe). The Procession is held every year on the nearest Sunday to Arbaeen at Marble Arch, London. It attracts up to 3000 men, women and children from all ethnic backgrounds (Pakistan, India, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Kuwait, Bahrain, etc) The Trust has commissioned two large Shabbihs (replicas) of the shrines of Imam Hussain (AS) and Hazrat Abbas (AS) which will accompany the mourning procession. After the recitation of ziyarat Arbaeen (5pm), Khakh-e-Shifa Tasbaees, Ziyarat Imam Hussain (A.S) posters, Refreshments will be served.
